Strawberries are getting cheaper, while bananas are getting more expensive – what are fruit prices like in Ukraine?

As of May 25, 2026, Ukraine has seen a 10% drop in the price of strawberries, while apples, oranges, and lemons have remained stable, and bananas have risen slightly by 5%.

This is according to data from the “Stolichny” market website in Kyiv.

Apples are selling for 35–55 UAH/kg, oranges for 80–140 UAH/kg, and lemons for 125–150 UAH/kg. Bananas at the market cost 69–75 UAH/kg, while strawberries are sold in the range of 180–220 UAH/kg. Retail chains also show variations in prices and product selection. ATB supermarkets offer the cheapest bananas at 71.90 UAH/kg, while the Novus chain offers the cheapest apples at 39.90 UAH/kg.

At the same time, the Silpo retail chain stands out for its wide selection of berry products. A further decline in strawberry prices is expected in just a few days, as market supply is increasing due to the arrival of domestic greenhouse berries from Zakarpattia and southern regions. A further increase in volumes from unheated greenhouses and a massive harvest of open-field produce will create a steady downward price trend. In contrast, prices for imported fruits will fluctuate in line with the national currency’s exchange rate against the dollar, and apples may become more expensive as local farms run out of last year’s harvest.
