Google may be blocked in Russia due to debts
Russian State Duma representatives have indicated the possibility of blocking Google within Russia. Technically, it is feasible, but Roskomnadzor might wait for the company to return to the country to recover a debt of 91.5 quintillion rubles — a number with 18 zeros, explained deputy Svintsov.
According to the deputy, it remains unclear when the blocking might actually take place and how it will affect Russian users. The decision is linked to Google's enormous outstanding debt to the Russian budget.
Looking ahead, the issue depends on the company's potential return and future interactions with government authorities. A possible blocking could significantly impact the digital landscape and access to Google services within Russia.
