United Airlines to launch direct flights from the US to Chiapas and Los Cabos
United Airlines will launch two new direct routes between the United States and Mexico at the end of October: from Houston to Tuxtla Gutiérrez in the state of Chiapas and from Washington Dulles to San José del Cabo in the Los Cabos area. Mexico News Daily reports.
Houston — Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Flights between George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport in Tuxtla Gutiérrez will begin on October 28. United will operate them three times a week — on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays — using Embraer E175 aircraft.
Departure from Houston is scheduled for 09:50, with arrival in Tuxtla Gutiérrez at 12:45. The return flight will depart at 13:35 and arrive in Houston at 16:19. Chiapas will receive direct air service to the United States for the first time since 2013.
The route is expected to make it easier for American and international travelers to access tourist destinations in the southern Mexican state, including San Cristóbal de las Casas, Palenque, Sumidero Canyon and the Lacandon Jungle.

Washington Dulles — San José del Cabo
Starting October 28, United Airlines will also fly between Washington Dulles Airport and San José del Cabo four times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In December, during a period of increased demand, the company plans to raise the frequency to daily flights.
The aircraft will depart Washington at 08:30 and arrive in Los Cabos at 12:08. The return flight from San José del Cabo is scheduled for 13:20, arriving in Washington at 19:58. The route is expected to strengthen Los Cabos’ air links with the US East Coast, an important source of international tourists for the state of Baja California Sur.
The new flights will complement planned winter seasonal services between Vancouver and Mazatlán, operated by Air Canada, and between Puebla and Chicago O’Hare, operated by Volaris.
