Senator Darlene Graham has advanced to the second round of the Republican primary in South Carolina’s special election for the U.S. Senate. According to the Associated Press, she will continue to compete for the Republican nomination. Her opponent will be Representative Ralph Norman, CNBC reports.
Republicans are selecting a candidate to fill the seat vacated by the late Senator Lindsey Graham. Darlene Graham, his sister, was appointed to the Senate to serve out the remainder of her brother’s term, which ends in January. U.S. President Donald Trump has endorsed her candidacy for a full term in the upper chamber of Congress.

The vote in South Carolina is part of a series of primaries leading up to the 2026 midterm elections. A runoff between Graham and Norman is scheduled to take place later this year.
On the same day, primaries were also held in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In Minnesota, progressive Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan is competing against Congresswoman Angie Craig for the Democratic nomination for the open Senate seat. In Wisconsin, Democratic socialist Francesca Hong is the front-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination for governor, while incumbent Governor Tony Evers, who is stepping down, has endorsed Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
