Ukraine and Hungary have agreed to hold a round of bilateral consultations at the expert level as early as this week.
This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
According to him, the agreement was reached during a phone call with his Hungarian counterpart, Anita Orbán.
The parties plan to discuss practical solutions regarding the Hungarian national minority in Zakarpattia Oblast, as well as issues related to restoring trust and good-neighborly relations between the countries.
Sybiga emphasized that Ukraine is ready to open a new, mutually beneficial chapter in relations with Hungary without delay and to cooperate with the new Hungarian government on all issues on the bilateral agenda.
Separately, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister raised the issue of European integration and emphasized Kyiv’s readiness to open negotiation clusters on EU accession as soon as possible.
Earlier, the Hungarian government commented on the massive attack by Russian drones on Zakarpattia, during which the region’s critical infrastructure was struck. Budapest described the situation in the border region as extremely alarming and announced that it was preparing urgent countermeasures.
