Bluesky reported another DDoS attack that caused a service outage
The social network Bluesky stated that a DDoS attack caused a 24-hour outage on the platform. According to TechCrunch, the site was hit by a flood of unwanted traffic that overwhelmed its resources. The company confirmed the incident in a post on Monday, noting that the attack had been ongoing for the previous 24 hours.
Bluesky reported that in response to the incident, it has strengthened its security measures and continues to monitor the situation. The company did not disclose any details about the attack. A Bluesky representative did not immediately respond to TechCrunch’s inquiry regarding the incident.
DDoS attacks involve flooding a website or server with a large amount of unwanted traffic to overload its resources and render the service unavailable. Such attacks often utilize a large number of compromised devices connected to the internet—these can be grouped into botnets or residential proxy networks.

Cybersecurity researchers discussing the incident on the public IFIN forum reported that Iran-linked attackers claimed responsibility for the attack.
This is not the first large-scale DDoS incident for Bluesky this year. In April, the platform experienced a prolonged series of outages, also caused by a surge in web traffic. It is currently unknown whether the April incident and the most recent one are related.
