Andrea Maldera has been named head coach of the Ukrainian national soccer team
Italian coach Andrea Malderu was officially appointed head coach of the Ukrainian national soccer team on May 18.
The decision was approved by the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football.
Andrea Maldera has become the new head coach of the Ukrainian national team. The Italian specialist’s candidacy was approved by the UAF Executive Committee upon the recommendation of the National Teams Committee.
Maldura’s contract is for two years with an option to extend. Thus, for the first time, a foreign coach has taken the helm of the Ukrainian national team.
Andrea Maldera was born on May 18, 1971. Until June 2016, he worked for AC Milan, where he served as a technical development coach and match analyst, after which he joined the staff of the Ukrainian national team.
For five years, Maldere assisted head coach Andriy Shevchenko, who is currently the president of the Ukrainian Football Association. In August 2021, he left the “blue-and-yellows” and joined England’s Brighton.
The Italian’s most recent position was with French club Marseille, where he served as an assistant coach.
