Basketball player Park Ji-hyun joins international Project B league
South Korean basketball player Park Ji-hyun, who plays for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA, has joined the new international basketball league Project B. The signing of the player and the holding of a training camp in Seoul were announced on Tuesday, Korea Herald reports.
Training camp in Seoul
The Project B training camp will take place from January 6 to 12, 2027, at the Park Hyatt Seoul hotel in the Gangnam district. Players, coaches and basketball league representatives are expected to take part.
Project B was founded by Jeff Prentice and Grady Burnett, a former Google and Facebook executive. The league is creating separate women's and men's leagues, each with six teams of 11 players.

Season to begin in 2027
The first Project B season is scheduled for January through April 2027, outside the WNBA calendar, whose season runs from May to October. Project B tournaments are expected to be held in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Valencia in Spain and Tokyo in Japan have already been confirmed as host cities.
Project B said it plans to pay female basketball players more than the WNBA and give them an ownership stake in the league. Other WNBA players who have already agreed to play in the new project include Park's Los Angeles Sparks teammate Nneka Ogwumike and Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas.
Park became the third basketball player from South Korea to play in the WNBA. Previously, she was the first overall pick in the Women's Korean Basketball League draft, won the Rookie of the Year award for the 2018–2019 season and helped Asan Woori Bank win three championship titles. She also played in professional leagues in Australia, New Zealand and Spain.
