Reigning champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has withdrawn from the Women's Tour de France
French cyclist Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, the reigning women’s Tour de France champion, withdrew from the race before the start of the eighth and penultimate stage. The reason was that she was feeling unwell, according to France 24.
The Visma-Lease a Bike team stated on social media platform X that the decision to withdraw Ferrand-Prévot from the race was made after consulting with the medical staff. The team noted that the cyclist was feeling unwell that morning and wished her a speedy recovery.

Before the eighth stage, Ferran-Prévot was in 14th place in the general classification. The 172-kilometer stage route ran from Sisteron in southeastern France to Nice. It was flat and should have been well-suited for sprinters.
Ferrand-Prévot won the gold medal in mountain biking at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Last year, she won the women’s Tour de France in her debut appearance. The leader of the general classification heading into the eighth stage was Polish rider Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Finney, who took the yellow jersey from Marlene Roisser on Friday after winning a solo climb up Mont Vantou.
