Jamal Musiala lost consciousness again during the match
Bayern Munich’s 23-year-old attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala lost consciousness for the second time in a row during a preseason match. This time, the incident occurred during a match against Heidenheim—just a few minutes after the player entered the game.
Musiala started the match on the bench and came on as a substitute in the 61st minute.
Shortly thereafter, the German player collapsed on the field without the ball, prompting the medical staff to intervene immediately.
Musiala left the field on his own, but Bayern was forced to make a substitution to bring him back on.
This is the second such incident involving Musiala in three days.
In a friendly match against RB Leipzig, the player entered the game in the 81st minute and even scored a goal, but later lost his balance. At that time, his teammate Ismael Saibari managed to catch him and prevent him from falling.
After the second incident, Musiala explained what had happened.
According to the player, he was diagnosed with temporary, short-term absences caused by a neurological dysfunction.
“First of all—I’m fine! I’m grateful for your messages and support. I’ve been diagnosed with transient, brief, but highly treatable absences caused by neurological dysfunction. They can lead to moments like the ones that have happened recently, such as in the matches against Leipzig and Heidenheim.
I’m receiving the best medical care and am very optimistic. Bayern and my close circle are always by my side. It’s important to note: there is no additional health risk. With the permission of my neurologists, I want to continue living a normal life and devote myself to my passion—playing soccer.
Overall, I’m feeling very good, and I’m on the right track. At the same time, I ask for your understanding that, going forward, I’d like to keep this matter limited to my closest friends and family, the club, and the medical specialists,” Musiala wrote on his Instagram.
Absence is a brief neurological condition that can manifest as a short-term disturbance of consciousness or a lack of response to the surroundings.
Musiala emphasized that he is under medical supervision and remains optimistic, and he also asked that his privacy regarding his health be respected.
This was reported by the BBC.
