Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has been temporarily suspended from tennis after his doping test came back positive. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced this on Wednesday, according to Deutsche Welle.
The suspension of 31-year-old Kyrgios took effect on August 4. He submitted the sample in June during an ATP tournament in Mallorca. According to the ITIA, the analysis detected benzoilecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine.

Kyrgios, a former Wimbledon finalist, stated on social media that he failed a drug test in Mallorca after testing positive for cocaine. The tennis player called it a huge mistake and noted that he takes full responsibility.
He also apologized to his fans, family, sponsors, and loved ones. He specifically apologized to the children who look up to him and said he realizes the example he is setting with this situation.
