Djokovic spoke about Monfils' legacy following the end of his career
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic shared his thoughts on the legacy that French player Gaël Monfils will leave behind when he retires at the end of the 2026 season.
Djokovic spoke about this during a conversation with the media.
According to the 24-time Grand Slam champion, the main legacy of Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina’s husband will be not only his playing ability but also his personal qualities.
“First and foremost, his legacy is what a wonderful person he is. He’s always smiling and spreading positivity, despite injuries and difficult periods in his career,” Djokovic noted.
The Serb also called Monfils one of the most athletic tennis players, noting his defense, court coverage, and spectacular playing style.
Djokovic added that Monfils will be missed on the tour, calling him one of his favorite rivals and players to watch.
Svitolina set a historic age record in women’s tennis.
Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, will retain her spot in the top ten of the world rankings at least until the start of the French Open.
