Footballer Lionel Messi has completed the acquisition of Spanish second-division club CD Eldense. The deal still requires regulatory approval, MyJoyOnline reports.
Second club in Spain
CD Eldense announced that Leo Messi’s acquisition of the club opens a new chapter in the history of the team, which is more than 100 years old.
In September, Messi reached a preliminary agreement to acquire a controlling stake in CD Eldense. The process has now been completed, the club said.

Team position
The Alicante-based club is in 19th place among 22 teams in Spain’s second division. After seven opening matches, CD Eldense has one win and five points.
In a statement, CD Eldense said that Messi’s arrival as owner launches a long-term project aimed at the team’s sporting, institutional and social development. Messi plays for the American club Inter Miami and announced the end of his international career in August.
