One player left the national team
Ireland head coach Heimir Hallgrímsson confirmed that the footballer who made the request subsequently left the team. According to him, one of the players changed his decision that morning.
The coach also noted that the situation caused discomfort for both the players and officials, who were trying to reconcile personal considerations with the interests of the Irish national team. Hallgrímsson said that no possible course of action would have everyone's support.
