India beat Pakistan by 19 runs in Asian Games final — BBC Sport

India’s national cricket team defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the Asian Games final in Nagoya, Japan, and won the gold medal. The defending Indian team scored 211 runs for six wickets in 20 overs, while Pakistan finished on 192-6.

India’s fast start

According to BBC Sport, India chose to bat first and were 81-2 after the powerplay. Abhishek Sharma scored 61 runs from 28 balls, hitting seven sixes, before being dismissed in the eighth over.

India’s momentum was maintained by Tilak Varma, who remained unbeaten on 51 runs from 22 balls. His innings included three fours and four sixes.

Pakistan’s attempt to catch up

Pakistan lost three wickets early in the chase with just 39 runs on the board. Hasan Nawaz scored 96 runs from 51 balls and hit seven sixes, but lacked support from his teammates. He was dismissed off the final ball of the match.

For India, spinners Axar Patel and Washington Sundar took two wickets each, returning figures of 2-29 apiece. Shivam Dube finished with 2-33. India also won the men’s Asian Games tournament four years ago in Hangzhou, China, securing their second consecutive gold medal.
