Ipswich Town investigates racist abuse of Fatawu — MyJoyOnline

In England, Premier League football club Ipswich Town has launched an investigation into racist abuse of Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu on social media after the team’s 0–1 defeat to Everton. This was reported by MyJoyOnline.

Sending-off in the match

Fatawu, who plays for the Ghana national team, received a second yellow card for simulation and was sent off. The match took place on Saturday. After the game, the footballer faced racist messages online.

Investigation with the Premier League

Ipswich Town said it was aware of the abuse directed at the player on social media. The club stressed that it considers any form of discriminatory behaviour unacceptable and that it has no place in football. The club said it is investigating the incident together with the Premier League. Ipswich also confirmed its full support for Fatawu and said it intends to counter discriminatory abuse of footballers on social media.
