Jürgen Klopp has been named head coach of the German national team

The German Football Association (DFB) has officially appointed Jürgen Klopp as the new head coach of the German national team. The 59-year-old coach has signed a four-year contract.

The DFB expects Klopp to lead the national team in preparation for Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup. The contract will take effect on August 15, 2026, and he will succeed Julian Nagelsmann as head coach. The coaching staff will include Peter Kravitz, Pepijn Leinders, and Sven Bender.

The German national team will play its first official matches under Klopp’s leadership in late September in the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands and Greece.

Jürgen Klopp began his coaching career at Mainz, later leading Borussia Dortmund, with whom he won the Bundesliga twice, and achieved his greatest successes with Liverpool, winning the Champions League and the English Premier League.

As a reminder, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) have classified the World Cup semifinal match between England and Argentina as a high-risk game.

Argentina may face sanctions following its celebration of the victory over England.
