At the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, Chinese divers won all the gold medals in the sport. Thanks to victories by Chen Yiwen and Lian Junjie, China completed a clean sweep of diving gold medals for the 14th consecutive time. Since its debut at the 1974 Asian Games, China has not conceded a single gold medal in this discipline to its rivals, Al Jazeera English reports.

China's total number of gold medals rose to 150 with four days remaining before the end of the Games. Japan has 50 gold medals, while South Korea has 24.

Tennis and boxing

Football and organization of the Games

In the men's football tournament, South Korea defeated China 2:1 in the semifinal thanks to an 82nd-minute goal. In the match for gold, the Korean team will play Japan, which beat Uzbekistan in a penalty shootout, 9:8, after a 1:1 draw over 120 minutes.

Nagoya Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa, who also serves as head of the local organizing committee, apologized to athletes over problems at the Games. Participants complained about a shortage of beds and transport difficulties. According to Hirosawa, the organizers must sincerely acknowledge the inadequate handling of the situation. More than 17,000 athletes and officials are taking part in the competitions; instead of a traditional athletes' village, they were housed in temporary wooden modules, on a cruise ship and in hotels.
