Kolos defeated LNZ and gave Shakhtar a chance in the title race
In the 24th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, Kolos from Kovalevka pulled off a sensational 1-0 victory over LNZ from Cherkasy.
The only goal of the match was scored early on—in the 8th minute, Ibrahim Kane finished the attack after a pass from Yuriy Klymchuk.
At the end of the first half, LNZ had a chance to equalize, but Oleksandr Drambaev’s goal was disallowed after a VAR review due to offside.
In the second half, the visitors attacked aggressively and applied pressure, but Kolos held on to their narrow lead.
Following this victory, Kolos climbed to sixth place with 37 points.
LNZ remained among the leaders in the standings, but Shakhtar now has a chance to pull ahead, with two games in hand.
Donetsk’s Shakhtar secured a spot in the Conference League semifinals with a 2-2 draw in the quarterfinal second leg against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg, the Ukrainian team advanced on aggregate, 5-2.
