Chicago Fire defeated Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps 3:1. Robert Lewandowski started the game on the bench, came on in the 76th minute and registered an assist for the hosts’ third goal, Interia Sport reports.

Home side’s advantage

Jonathan Bamba opened the scoring in the ninth minute. He received a pass from Anton Saletros, cut inside from the left flank and fired from around 20 metres just inside the left post of Yohei Takaoka’s goal.

Later, Philip Zinckernagel had a chance to double Chicago’s lead from the penalty spot, but his shot struck the right post. At the start of the second half, the Danish footballer made amends: after an attack down the left flank, he received a pass from Maren Haile-Selassie and scored his team’s second goal.
