Lukashenko harshly criticized the state of Belarusian soccer
On June 16, Alexander Lukashenko stated that the level of Belarusian soccer remains low and fails to capture the interest of spectators. According to him, he will pay more attention to the sport only when soccer players demonstrate a level of play comparable to that of hockey players.
“If soccer players start playing the way hockey players play, I will be more than happy to pay attention to soccer as well. But there’s nothing to watch there yet. Don’t be offended that I pay less attention to soccer. Not in the least,” Lukashenko said.
On Tuesday, June 16, Lukashenko held a meeting on the development of hockey.
“Soccer and hockey are the main sports everywhere. Because they’re popular. They’re the people’s sports,” the dictator emphasized.
