Marta Kostyuk advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati. In her fourth-round match, she secured a hard-fought victory over sixth-seeded Mirra Andreeva, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
The match lasted about an hour and a half. Kostyuk will play in the quarterfinals on August 20.
Kostyuk will compete for a spot in the semifinals against the winner of the match between Cori Gauff (USA, 4) and Marie Bouzková (Czech Republic, 22).
As a reminder, the tournament in the U.S. state of Ohio will run through August 23.

Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, fell one step short of the final at the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto. In a tense semifinal, the Ukrainian lost in three sets to former world No. 1 Iga Świątek of Poland.
As a reminder, on August 11, Elina Svitolina defeated Russia’s Katerina Aleksandrova in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Toronto and advanced to the semifinals. The Ukrainian lost the first set but staged a comeback to win the match in three sets—3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
Prior to that, Ukraine’s top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, secured a victory in the round of 16 at the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament taking place in Toronto.
