American tennis player Tommy Paul defeated top-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany in the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open and advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals for the first time in his career. The match in Mason, Ohio, ended with a score of 4–6, 7–6 (8–6), 6–4.

According to Channel NewsAsia, the match was suspended for nearly 90 minutes due to rain. Zverev won the first set, and before play was halted, Paul was trailing 3–4 in the second set.

After play resumed, the American looked more confident. He saved a match point and evened the score in sets, while Zverev struggled to regain his rhythm.

In the decisive set, the German took a 4–2 lead, but Paul won four games in a row to clinch the victory. Zverev recorded 14 aces but committed nine double faults; in the third set, he was also called for a foot fault on his serve. In the quarterfinals, Paul will face Italian Flavio Cobolli, who defeated Spaniard Rafael Hodar 4–6, 7–6 (7–3), 6–3.
