Alessandro Circati transferred from Parma to Benfica for a reported 20 million euros
Australian national team defender Alessandro Circatti has transferred from Parma in Italy to Benfica in Portugal. According to ABC News Australia, the transfer fee for the 22-year-old soccer player is approximately 20 million euros—the source also cites an equivalent of 33 million dollars.
Circati has signed a five-year contract with the Lisbon club, which will run through 2031. In the Portuguese league, he will join his Australian national teammate Nestor Irancunda, who moved from Watford to Lisbon’s Sporting—Benfica’s archrival.
Following the transfer, Chirkaty called the opportunity to play for Benfica a great honor and privilege. The player stated that he can play both positions in the center of the defense in formations with four or three defenders and hopes to adapt quickly with the help of his new teammates and the coaching staff.

The Italian-born player trained with the Australian club Perth Glory. After a trial in 2021, he joined Parma. In a statement, the Italian club noted that Circati played 96 matches for the team, including 37 in Serie A, and scored two goals. Parma also highlighted his role in the club’s Serie B title win during the 2023–24 season and in securing its place in the top division for the following two seasons.
For the Australian national team, Circhetti played in 17 matches and scored one goal. He also played in all four of the Australian team’s matches at the World Cup.
