Messi tops the list of all-time leading scorers in World Cup history
Following his goals against Algeria, Messi now has 16 goals across all World Cups. He shares first place on the all-time World Cup scoring list with Germany’s Miroslav Klose (16).
The 38-year-old Messi has been playing for the North American MLS club Inter Miami since 2023. The Argentine also played for France’s Paris Saint-Germain and Spain’s Barcelona, with whom he won the Champions League four times.
Messi is a World Cup champion (2022), a World Cup silver medalist (2014), an Olympic champion (2008), and a two-time Copa América champion (2021, 2024).
