Michail Antonio joins Watford in the United Kingdom
English club Watford have signed 36-year-old Michail Antonio as a free agent. The deal with the former West Ham United forward is for one year, Channel NewsAsia reports, citing Reuters.
Return to English football
Antonio is returning to English football after playing for Qatar's Al-Sailiya, which he joined in March. It was his first club after surgery the footballer underwent following a road accident.
In December 2024, Antonio's car crashed into a tree while he was returning home from training. The footballer fractured his femur in four places and did not play for West Ham again after that.

Period after West Ham
Antonio left the London club in August 2025 after West Ham decided not to extend his contract. He is the team's all-time top scorer in the Premier League. At the end of the previous season, West Ham finished 18th in the Premier League and were relegated to the Championship.
The footballer said he aims to help Watford and hopes to score for his new team once he regains fitness. Watford are currently 12th in the Championship, with eight points after six matches.
