Midfielder Zac Butters names Western Bulldogs as preferred club
In Australia, Port Adelaide midfielder Zac Butters has told Western Bulldogs that he wants to join the club. ABC News reports, citing a Western Bulldogs statement.

In a statement released on Saturday morning, Western Bulldogs confirmed that Butters had informed the club of his desire to move. The club said it would work with Port Adelaide to reach an acceptable outcome during the upcoming player trade period.

Return to Victoria
In August, 25-year-old Butters requested to leave Port Adelaide through the free agency mechanism in order to return to the state of Victoria. On August 24, he called it a difficult decision and said he had not made it lightly.
According to the footballer, he loved his time in Adelaide, but wants to be closer to his family and friends and spend more time with them. The future of the three-time best and fairest award winner was actively discussed throughout the season. Media reported possible offers of up to $18 million over eight years from Richmond, Geelong, Collingwood and Western Bulldogs.
