Europe and the United States end first day of Solheim Cup tied 4:4 in the Netherlands
In the Netherlands, the Europe and United States teams ended the first day of the Solheim Cup with a score of 4:4. Carlota Ciganda made par on the final hole, allowing the European team to level the overall score ahead of the second day of competition.
An even start to the tournament
As Sky Sports News reports, this is only the second time in Solheim Cup history that the teams have had the same number of points after the opening day. The first such situation occurred in 2002.
In foursomes, both teams won two matches each. In the fourballs session, the United States and Europe won one match each, while two more matches ended in draws.

Pairs for the second day
The European team retained three of the four pairs that played in the first-day foursomes. Céline Boutier and Nanna Koerstz Madsen will not take to the course after two defeats in their joint matches. They will be replaced by debutants Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud, who earned Europe its only full point in fourballs.
There will be one change in the United States lineup: Auston Kim will replace Lindy Duncan. Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz, who have won five consecutive foursomes matches and beat Charley Hull and Lottie Woad on the first day, will play first. Their opponents will be Swedish golfers Maja Stark and Linn Grant.
