Monaco bought forward Ansu Fati from Barcelona for 11 million euros
AS Monaco has officially exercised the buyout option for Spanish forward Ansu Fati, who played for the team last season on loan from Barcelona.
The 23-year-old forward has signed a full-fledged contract with the Monegasques, which runs through June 2030. According to unofficial reports from sports media, the transfer fee for the player was 11 million euros.
In his debut season with Monaco, Fati quickly adapted and became one of the key leaders of the team’s attack. He played in 30 matches, scoring 12 goals, which placed him second on the club’s list of top scorers. The forward was named Man of the Match three times in the French league, including scoring two goals in a crucial derby against Nice, as well as securing victories for the team in matches against Lens and Metz.
Ansu Fati is a product of Barcelona’s renowned academy, where he was once hailed as the club’s heir apparent and took over the iconic No. 10 jersey following Lionel Messi’s departure. With the Catalans, the Spaniard has won two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and one Spanish Super Cup. In addition, he has experience playing in the English Premier League, where he was on loan to Brighton.
This was reported on Monaco’s official website.
