American tennis player Brandon Nakashima advanced to the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open after defeating fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev 6-7 (3-7), 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. In the third-round match, Nakashima saved three match points, according to Channel NewsAsia, citing Reuters.

Early in the match, Nakashima broke serve to take a 4–2 lead and was later one game away from winning the first set. However, Medvedev saved four set points, broke back when the American was serving for the set, and then won the tiebreak with a backhand down the line.

In the second set, both players held their serves confidently. Nakashima saved three match points, then won the tiebreaker to force a decisive set. In the third set, Medvedev lost his rhythm, and the American broke serve twice to close out the match with a victory.

Following his victory over Medvedev, his record in the summer hardcourt series stands at 10 wins and two losses. In the fourth round, the American will face Portugal’s Nuno Borges, who defeated 13th-seeded Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-4.
