The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has named the best athletes and coaches of June

The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has announced the winners of its traditional award based on the results of June 2026 in sports. Lyudmyla Luzan, a four-time European champion in kayaking and canoeing, has been named the best female athlete of the month. 

This is the third time in her career that the paddler has received this recognition, thanks to her triumphant performances at the continental championships in the Portuguese city of Montemor-o-Velho.

She won gold medals in the 200- and 500-meter single canoe events, as well as two victories in the double canoe event alongside her partner Anastasia Rybachok. Lyudmila’s personal coach, Mykola Matsapura, was named Coach of the Month for June. In the category for young talents, the winner was Yelyzaveta Pyvovarova, who won a historic bronze medal for Ukraine at the Junior World Shooting Championships in Sülz, Germany, and her coach, Yuriy Vashchuk, was named the best coach of a young athlete.
