Oleksandr Petrakov May Take the Helm at Kyiv's Dynamo – Media Reports
Former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Petrakov is being considered as one of the candidates to replace Ihor Kostyuk as head coach of Kyiv’s “Dynamo.”
This was reported by Artem Onishchenko, a journalist and host of the YouTube channel “Kamon, Play!” According to him, the capital city club’s management is exploring options in case of a head coach change after the seventh round of the Ukrainian Premier League, when the break for national team matches begins. Other potential candidates mentioned include Igor Jovićević, Dmytro Mykhailenko, and Serhiy Kravchenko; however, the journalist singled out Petrakov as a realistic option.
Petrakov’s most recent coaching position was with the Armenian national team, which he led from January 2023 to October 2024. Previously, Oleksandr Petrakov worked with Ukraine’s national team, and his greatest career achievement is leading Ukraine’s U-20 team to victory at the 2019 World Cup.

Ihor Kostyuk, head coach of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” Ihor Kostyuk commented on the substitution of goalkeeper Vyacheslav Surkis during the 4th round UPL match against Chernivtsi’s “Bukovyna,” which ended in a 0-3 loss for Kyiv. In that game, the goalkeeper made two costly mistakes, including deflecting the ball into his own net in the 54th minute.
Earlier, Yarmolenko apologized for Dynamo’s humiliating loss in the UPL.
