Oleksandriya suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Veres in the Premier League
In a match of the 24th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, Rivne’s “Veres” secured a convincing 3-0 victory over “Oleksandriya.”
This result allowed the visitors to strengthen their position in the middle of the standings, while the home team continues its dismal winless streak, remaining at the bottom of the table.
The start of the match turned out to be a cold shower for Oleksandriya, as they conceded a goal right at the start of the game.
Despite the home team’s attempts to control the ball, Veres capitalized on their first serious opportunity. Fabrício headed the ball accurately off a cross from Gonçalves, leaving the defense no chance.
Oleksandriya had a chance to equalize when Kampush took a shot on goal following a set piece, but the ball went wide of the post.
After that, the pace of the game slowed down somewhat, and the battle for possession mainly took place in the midfield without much intensity.
However, just before halftime, the Rivne side managed to double their lead thanks to the individual skill of one of their leaders.
Ihor Kharatin demonstrated excellent reflexes on a rebound and sent the ball precisely into the bottom corner of the opponent’s goal with a long-range shot from 25 meters.
The second half was memorable to spectators not so much for its combination play as for the fierce confrontation and numerous fouls.
The referee was forced to issue eight yellow cards to calm the players’ tempers on the field.
There were few scoring opportunities in the second half, but the final say went to Oleg Shandruk’s team.
Toward the end of regulation time, Veres launched a quick counterattack that ended with Baii breaking through to an open net and scoring.
With this victory, Veres secured its position in tenth place. Oleg Shandruk’s team now has 29 points.
Meanwhile, Oleksandriya sits second-to-last (12 points), eight points behind the relegation playoff zone.
