Pegula beats Swiatek to face Gauff in Cincinnati final
American tennis player Jessica Pegula defeated defending Cincinnati champion Iga Swiatek in the semifinal and will face Coco Gauff in the decisive match. The world No. 3 beat the Polish player 7:5, 4:6, 6:4 in a match that lasted nearly three hours.
According to Al Jazeera English, the match was interrupted by rain, while strong winds also hampered the players. In the deciding set, Pegula took a 5:4 lead. Swiatek saved three break points but committed a double fault on the fourth. The American finished the match with a winning serve.
An all-American final
Pegula called the match “crazy” and noted the high number of breaks and unusual conditions on the court. According to her, it was difficult for the players to understand the course of the match.

Coco Gauff defeated unseeded Czech player Sara Bejlek 6:4, 6:1 in the other semifinal. Bejlek had previously beaten world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round of the tournament. The final between Pegula and Gauff will be an all-American affair.
Men's final
American Frances Tiafoe and France's Arthur Fils will meet in the men's final. Tiafoe beat fellow American Brandon Nakashima 7:5, 6:3, saving three set points in the first set and making five breaks.
Fils will play in a Masters 1000 final for the first time after defeating French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli 6:3, 6:4. Their semifinal was delayed for 45 minutes because of rain and lightning. The Frenchman became the youngest French representative in a Masters final since Richard Gasquet reached the final in Toronto two decades ago.
