Former Nigerian national team soccer player Michael Eneramo died during the match
Former Nigerian national team forward Michael Eneramo died at the age of 40 during a friendly match.
The tragedy occurred in the city of Kaduna. The footballer played the first half, but at the start of the second half, he lost consciousness and collapsed on the field.
According to preliminary reports, the cause of death was sudden cardiac arrest.
Eneramo was a well-known player in African and Turkish soccer. He achieved his greatest success with the Tunisian club Espérance and also played for Turkish teams, including Beşiktaş, Sivasspor, and İstanbul Başakşehir.
As a member of the Nigerian national team, he played 10 matches and scored a crucial goal in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
The Nigerian Football Federation expressed its condolences to the player’s family and loved ones, calling his death a great loss for the football community.
