Vyacheslav Sharpar, a former player for Vorskla and Metalist, has died

Ukrainian soccer player Vyacheslav Sharpar has died at the age of 39. The news of his death was announced by his mother, Valentina Sharpar.

According to her, Sharpar tragically passed away on June 2—his birthday. His body is currently in Greece, and plans are in place to transport it to Ukraine for burial.

Vyacheslav Sharpar was born on June 2, 1987, in Zelenodolsk, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. He is best remembered for his performances with Vorskla, Volyn, and Metalist.

One of the highlights of his career was a goal against London’s Arsenal in a 2018–19 Europa League match while playing for Poltava’s Vorskla.

The footballer also played for Hoverla, Kyiv’s Arsenal, Kazakhstan’s Atyrau, Moldova’s Sheriff, and Latvia’s Riga.

With Sheriff, he won the Moldovan league title and the Moldovan Cup, and with Riga, he won the Latvian league title. He played two matches for the Ukrainian U-21 national team.

Sharpar ended his professional career in 2021 with Volyn Lutsk.
