Shakhtar crushed AZ Alkmaar in 11 minutes in the Conference League quarterfinals
Donetsk's Shakhtar played their first Conference League quarterfinal match against the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. The match took place on April 9 in Krakow.
The first half and most of the second were evenly matched, with the visitors from the Netherlands holding a slight advantage.
However, toward the end of the match, Shakhtar completely turned the game around, scoring three goals in 11 minutes.
Pedrinho opened the scoring with a powerful shot into the top corner. After that, Alisson scored a brace, finding the net twice from virtually the same position.
Thanks to this, Shakhtar secured a confident victory and gained an advantage ahead of the second leg in the Netherlands, where the semifinalist will be determined.
AZ Alkmaar is one of the Netherlands’ most famous clubs, founded in 1967. The team has won the national championship twice and has a history of successful performances in European competitions, including reaching the 1981 UEFA Cup final and the Conference League semifinals in the 2022/23 season.
As a reminder, Dynamo loaned Rubchynskyi to Karpaty.
Additionally, Iran has withdrawn from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
