Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina will face unseeded Lyudmila Samsonova in the second round of the Bad Homburg Open

The Ukrainian is seeded third in the 500-point tournament, which is being held in Hesse, Germany. 

Meanwhile, Svitolina’s opponent won her first-round match against Czech tennis player Kateřina Siniaková with a score of 6–3, 7–5.

The match between Svitolina and Samsonova will take place on June 23.

It is noted that the two players have not faced each other in tournament play before. However, Svitolina has played four matches against Russian “neutral” players this season, winning three of them.

The tournament in Bad Homburg will run through June 27 and will serve as the final stage of preparation for Wimbledon—the third Grand Slam tournament of the season. The prize pool for the competition exceeds $1.2 million.
