Three Ukrainian tennis players set personal bests in the WTA rankings
Ukrainian tennis players Daria Snigur, Oleksandra Oliynikova, and Veronika Podrez have improved their rankings in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings. In total, seven Ukrainian players have made it into the top 100 of the rankings.
All three have reached record-high positions in the rankings. Snigur reached the final of the Prague Open and moved up to 44th place in the rankings. Oliynikova, thanks to her quarterfinal appearance at the Hamburg Open, is right behind her compatriot. Podrez, meanwhile, climbed to 134th place.
Elina Svitolina remains Ukraine’s top-ranked player. She is currently ranked 10th. Her compatriot Marta Kostyuk is right behind her.
Angelina Kalinina, Yulia Starodubtseva, and Dayana Yastremska also remain in the top 100. Compared to the previous rankings, Kalinina showed the most progress, moving up three spots to 54th place.
Starodubtseva, meanwhile, dropped three spots (62nd place). Yastremska, who took a break from her career due to injury, moved up one spot (87th place). Anastasia Soboleva moved into the top 200 of the rankings (196th place).
There were no changes in the top ten of the rankings. Arina Sabalenka of Belarus remains the leader. The top five also includes Kazakhstan’s Yelena Rybakina, American tennis players Jessica Pegula and Cori Gauff, and Russian player Mirra Andreeva, who competes without a flag.
Earlier, Oleksandr Ovcharenko won a WTT doubles tournament for the second time this season.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian 7-a-side soccer team won the European championship title for the first time in history. In the final match of the continental championship, the “blue-and-yellows” defeated the tournament hosts—the Italian team.
