Tiafoe rallies from 0:2 to reach US Open semifinals
American tennis player Frances Tiafoe defeated compatriot Alex Michelsen in the US Open quarterfinals in New York, United States, reaching the tournament semifinals for the third time in his career. Tiafoe was down two sets and a break but secured a 5:7, 3:6, 7:5, 6:3, 7:6 (6) victory, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Turning point in the third set
In the first set, Tiafoe was unable to find his rhythm on the Arthur Ashe Stadium court: he hit four winners compared with Michelsen's 15 and gave up the decisive break on set point. In the second set, Michelsen played effectively at the net and earned the decisive break after a powerful backhand shot.
At the start of the third set, Michelsen broke his opponent's serve once again with a shot down the line. However, Tiafoe levelled the score in the 10th game, then secured another break on set point and won the third set.

Decisive tiebreak
In the penultimate set, Tiafoe won the first three games and levelled the match in sets. The winner was decided in the fifth set: Tiafoe prevailed in the tiebreak. The match lasted four hours and 38 minutes.
In the semifinals, Tiafoe will play eighth seed Ben Shelton or defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
