Ukraine won silver for the first time at the World Team Draughts-100 Championship

The World Team Draughts-100 Championship, held in the French city of Saint-Dulchar, has concluded, marking a triumphant victory for the Ukrainian national team.

This was reported by Suspilne Sport.

The Ukrainian men’s team demonstrated an unprecedented level of play and, for the first time in history, climbed to the second step of the podium.

The national team consisted of experienced players: Yuriy Anikeyev, Matvey Kolesnikov, Yuriy Bobkov, Ivan Antonenko, and Vasyl Piknyar.

Throughout the tournament, the “blue-and-yellows” demonstrated incredible resilience, not losing a single individual match in all the games they played.

The Ukrainians’ victory over the Cameroon national team was particularly impressive. Our athletes won this match with the highest score of this year’s competition—6:0—which was the only such result in the entire tournament.

First place went to the Latvian team, which finished three points ahead of the Ukrainian national team, while the hosts of the competition—the French—rounded out the top three.

This achievement is a milestone for Ukrainian sports, as Ukraine had previously fallen just short of a medal twice before.

In 1992 and 2000, our draughts players finished only in fourth place, making this year’s “silver” the best result in the history of Ukraine’s participation in the World Team Championships.

In Zhytomyr, Epicenter defeated Polissya in the final minutes

Luhansk Zorya (Luhansk) defeated Oleksandriya 2-1 in the 28th round of the Ukrainian Premier League. In the first half, both teams had chances but were unable to capitalize on them.
