Two well-known Ukrainian sports journalists have died
The Ukrainian media has been shaken by the news of the deaths of two well-known sports commentators who dedicated their lives to promoting Ukrainian athletics.
This was reported by Sport.ua.
Dmytro Miroshnychenko passed away at the age of 58, and shortly thereafter, the patriarch of rugby journalism, Volodymyr Kazymirov, passed away in Kyiv.
During his long career, Dmytro Miroshnychenko worked for the country’s leading sports publications.
In particular, his professional career was closely linked to the newspaper “Komanda,” the publication “Ves Sport,” and the magazine “Tennis.”
Later, he served as a producer for the sports programming department at one of the country’s popular national television channels.
Colleagues remember him as a top-notch professional capable of organizing complex filming processes and connecting with even the most discerning audience.
Despite significant success in the media sphere, in recent years Dmytro had stepped back from active journalism.
Even before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the country’s territorial integrity.
Unfortunately, while serving in the military, Miroshnychenko’s health problems worsened. The 57-year-old defender died of a sudden heart attack on May 7.
Almost simultaneously with this tragic news came word of the death of another legendary journalist.
On May 9, in the capital, at the age of 80, Volodymyr Kazymirov passed away—a man who was rightly called the chronicler of Ukrainian weightlifting.
His professional career in sports media spanned more than 45 years of continuous work.
Volodymyr was a true enthusiast of his craft and was known as the “bard of Ukrainian rugby,” as it was thanks to his articles that this sport received widespread coverage.
