"Zorya" defeated "Oleksandriya" in a UPL match
Zorya Luhansk (Luhansk) defeated Oleksandriya 2–1 in the 28th round of the Ukrainian Premier League.
In the first half, both teams had chances but were unable to capitalize on them.
Zorya looked more active from the start and created several dangerous chances, but the opposing goalkeeper played reliably. Oleksandriya responded with shots at the end of the first half, including a dangerous chance and a shot that hit the crossbar.
After the break, the Luhansk side opened the scoring with a penalty, which Budkivsky confidently converted after an opponent handled the ball. Later, Zorya doubled their lead with a precise strike by Michin from outside the penalty area.
Oleksandriya quickly cut the deficit but was unable to build on that momentum. The teams traded chances until the end of the match, but the score remained unchanged.
The loss proved decisive for Oleksandriya in their fight for tournament qualification, while Zorya solidified its position in the middle of the table.
As a reminder, the final match of Europe’s most prestigious tournament between France’s Paris Saint-Germain and London’s Arsenal will be officiated by a German refereeing crew led by Daniel Siebert. For the 42-year-old referee, this will be his first time officiating a decisive match in a senior European cup competition.
The decisive match of the 2025/26 season will take place on May 30 at the Puskás Arena in Budapest. For the English club, this final will be only the second in history following their defeat by Barcelona in 2006. The Parisian team will serve as the nominal home side at the Hungarian arena, which has previously hosted a Europa League final.
