A Ukrainian woman set a national record by climbing Mount Everest

Ukrainian mountaineer Hanna Yatsyna became the youngest woman in Ukrainian history to climb Mount Everest. She reached the summit of the world’s highest mountain on her 25th birthday, setting a national record.

According to the mountaineer, preparations for the expedition took about two years. During that time, she climbed a number of famous peaks, including Ararat, Kilimanjaro, Lobuche, Orisabu, Mont Blanc, Aconcagua, and the Ojos del Salado volcano, gradually gaining the necessary experience for an expedition to the world’s highest peak.

As for the Everest expedition, it took a total of 30 days, most of which were spent acclimatizing and allowing her body to adapt to the thin air. Meanwhile, the actual trek from Base Camp to the summit of Everest took about five days.

As the record-holder told reporters, her interest in mountains began in adulthood—initially as a desire to test herself and push beyond her comfort zone.

“The mountains didn’t welcome me for a long time, but even at age 14, I printed out a picture of Everest and hung it next to my computer—just as a dream. My mom used to say that sometimes it’s worth setting goals for yourself that seem unattainable. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get there. But dreams come true—even the most ambitious ones—if you consistently work toward them step by step,” the mountaineer said.

Along with Hanna Yatsyna’s record, the Ukrainian Book of Records documented another achievement. On a single day, seven Ukrainian mountaineers reached the summit of Everest, marking the largest simultaneous ascent by Ukrainians to the world’s highest mountain. This achievement has also been officially entered into the national record registry.

The record was officially registered and entered into the Ukrainian Book of Records. With this achievement, the Ukrainian woman not only inscribed her name in the history of Ukrainian mountaineering but also once again demonstrated to the world the resilience, resilience, and the great potential of Ukrainian youth, who continue to make their mark on the international stage even under extremely challenging and extreme conditions.
