Police in Australia investigate NRL player Josh Addo-Carr
In Australia, police are investigating NRL player Josh Addo-Carr after a preliminary roadside test indicated cocaine. As ABC News Australia reports, the athlete was stopped for a random check on Enmore Road in Sydney’s inner west on the evening of September 11.
Test results
According to a police statement, Addo-Carr’s breath alcohol test was negative. At the same time, a preliminary drug test indicated cocaine.
An oral fluid sample was taken from the player and sent for further analysis. The investigation is ongoing, with police awaiting the results of forensic testing of the sample.

Club reaction
Addo-Carr’s current club, the Parramatta Eels, said it was aware of the alleged incident. The club notified the NRL Integrity Unit, is cooperating under the relevant procedures, and is providing support to the player and his family.
The Parramatta Eels added that they would not comment on the matter until it is concluded. In 2024, the athlete’s previous club, the Canterbury Bulldogs, dismissed him after a failed roadside drug test.
Addo-Carr has been called up to Australia’s Kangaroos national team and has also represented New South Wales. Over his 10-year career, he has scored more than 150 tries and won the premiership twice with the Melbourne Storm.
