Veronika Podrez advanced to the main draw of the WTA 250 tournament in Prague
Ukrainian tennis player Veronika Podrez successfully advanced through the qualifying rounds of the WTA 250 tournament in Prague. The tournament in the Czech capital has a prize pool of over $283,000.
In the qualifying final, 19-year-old Podrez (No. 136 in the WTA rankings) defeated Japan’s Rina Saigo (No. 318) in 1 hour and 10 minutes with a score of 6-4, 6-1, according to Ukrinform.
It should be noted that this was Podrez’s second time competing in WTA qualifying: in April in Rouen (France), Veronika advanced through qualifying and reached the final, where she lost to Marta Kostyuk.
The main draw of the Livesport Prague Open will take place July 20–26.
As a reminder, Turin’s Juventus announced the signing of Turkish national team defender Zeki Çelik, who left Roma after his contract expired.
The Spanish national team became the first finalist of the 2026 World Cup, defeating France in the semifinal match.
