Video: Spanish driver teased the Argentines after the 2026 World Cup final
A pilot from Spain played a prank on his Argentine passengers after the 2026 World Cup final. The Spanish national team defeated Argentina 1–0.
It is reported that the passengers on board did not have internet access and did not know the outcome of the World Cup final. The captain calmly announced that the match had been intense, that both teams had given it their all, and added, “On our own behalf, we’d like to congratulate our Argentine compatriots...”
Upon hearing this, the cabin erupted in loud cheers and celebrations. But just a few seconds later, the pilot continued and announced that Spain had actually won. After these words, the cabin instantly fell into a deafening silence, and the fans’ excitement turned to disappointment.
A video of this prank went viral on social media. However, the reaction to it was mixed. While some users called the joke funny, Argentine media and a number of viewers criticized the captain for excessively cruel trolling.
As a reminder, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) classified the World Cup semifinal match between England and Argentina as a high-risk game.
Argentina could face sanctions following its celebration of the victory over England.
