World Tennis has extended the suspension of the Russian Tennis Federation from competitions
The international organization World Tennis has decided to uphold the suspension of the Russian Tennis Federation from team tournaments. The restrictions on Russian and Belarusian players have been in effect since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
As a result, Russian teams will not yet be able to return to participating in international team competitions organized by the organization.
“The suspension of the Russian Tennis Federation from World Tennis membership remains in effect,” according to a statement from the World Tennis press office.
In early 2022, the International Tennis Federation barred Russians and Belarusians from participating in team tournaments and suspended the membership of the Russian and Belarusian Tennis Federations.
The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) have allowed Russian and Belarusian tennis players to participate in their tournaments under neutral status.
