The Latvian U-16 national team won the European Basketball Championship
Latvia’s U-16 men’s basketball team won gold medals at the European Championship in Romania, defeating France 75–69 in the final, according to LSM English.
In the knockout stage, the Latvian team defeated Serbia 99–59, Greece 92–80, and Spain 92–87, securing their spot in the final. In the group stage, the Latvian team defeated Italy 82–70, Turkey 88–63, and the Czech Republic 95–80.
The French national team defeated Lithuania 92–82 in the semifinals, so the decisive match did not turn into a Baltic showdown.

For Latvia’s U-16 men’s national team, this was only the second European Championship final in its history. In 2014, the team lost to France in the final match of the home tournament.
The Latvian Basketball Association has invited fans to meet with the players and coaching staff on Sunday at 12:20 p.m. at the “Daugava” Sports Hall in Riga.
