The Russian national team has agreed to play a friendly match against one of the poorest countries in the world
The Russian Football Union and the Burkina Faso Football Federation are finalizing negotiations regarding a friendly match between their national teams.
The event is scheduled to take place in Moscow on June 5, 2026, provided that the host side covers all costs.
Currently, the parties are in the final stages of agreeing on all the details of the upcoming match. The Russian side has committed to covering absolutely all expenses related to organizing the game.
Funding includes transportation, accommodation for the visiting delegation, and additional monetary compensation for the partners. Russia is forced to accept these terms due to the prolonged international isolation of its football system.
Preliminary agreements to hold the match were in place as early as March of this year, but the match was canceled at that time.
Representatives from Burkina Faso declined the trip due to the absence of their national team’s head coach.
